Love Me Jesus

For whatever reason, the words well done have never been that inspiring to me. Maybe it's because I'm the youngest in my family and when I would save up for a bike or something I really wanted, my parents would end up buying it for me before I reached my goal… Maybe it is that because at the times when I have reached a goal, I have struggled to feel like what I did was good enough.  Maybe I'm the only one who has ever felt like my best isn't good enough. I have a hunch this isn't the case.

This song, Love Me Jesus is a life song for me; the cry of my heart. Down deep, more than the words "well done good and faithful servant," I long to hear "I love you." I do believe God will tell me well done. But when I does, I know it will be because of His love, His grace, and His power that was at work within me.

Throughout the writings of Paul, there is a strong "in Christ" motif. In 1 Corinthians 15 he says: "For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:22 NIV). And in Galatians 2:20 he says, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." So, When heaven was opened to man, and God said, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased," He said it to us. And their will come a day, when he says "Well Done," that we will say, "Amazing Grace." Oh, for that day!

verse 1
O the words I long to hear, when I enter heaven's gate
Are not so much well done as I've loved you all Your days
From your very first breath to when they laid you in the grave
You have been my heart's delight the one I died to save

chorus
O love me Jesus not for I do
For all I do is vain, I need amazing grace
Just love me Jesus, cause my only hope of change
Is not so much well done, as Your Amazing Grace.

verse 2
And the words I long to hear, as I bow at your feet
Are not so much well done as my child don't you weep
For my grace was sufficient for your every need
And now we have each other through eternity

verse 3
And when you finally speak the word,
well done my faithful child
I'll know it was grace, that brought every mile
From my very steps, to when I laid down my sword
It will have been you goodness, working in me Lord

chorus 2
O I love you Jesus for all that you've done
For giving your life, for giving your blood
Yes I love You Jesus, cause You're my only hope of change
And when you say to me well done, I'll say Amazing Grace.

  1. Hi, My name is Michael and I saw you on an episode of Celebrating Life in Recovery with Cheri Peters and I was impressed with your gentleness in your song, Love Me Jesus, and kind, maybe we'll meet someday? How do I go about getting a copy of your CD with that song and others, to listen to at home, as I am not very computer savvy. Can I order one in the mail and get it sent to my home address. Thank you very much, Best regards, Michael Clark 860 Olive Street, Yuba City, CA 95991 530-755-0792.....or email at vintagehouse@sbcglobal.net
